Beneficial Use of Dredged Material in Mesquite Bay, Texas

This tidal mitigation site in Mesquite Bay, Aransas County, was the first instance of successful use of dredged material for beneficial habitat creation for the endangered whooping crane (Grus americana). Permitted, designed, planted and monitored by Belaire Environmental, Inc., this mitigation site has become a hallmark for habitat construction. Local whooping crane tours routinely stop at the site due to frequent use by the cranes and many other avian species.
